Sada Cruzeiro arrives in the interior of São Paulo in the early afternoon of Friday, 08/11, where they will face Pacaembu Ribeirão Preto, in their first match of the 2019/20 Men’s Superleague. The debut game in the main national competition takes place this Saturday, 9, at Cava do Bosque gym, at 19:30, with live broadcast of SporTV 2.
Hexacampeão Brazilian, with the Cruzeiro raised in the editions of 2011/12, 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18, the celestial team goes in search of the seventh title of its history. This will be the 14th consecutive Superleague for the Sada Cruzeiro, which since 2006 has kept its name in the volleyball elite in Brazil and worldwide.
In addition to the six national titles, the team also had two runners-up and two bronzes, the last in the 2018/19 season. Therefore, in 13 complete years of sports project, in only three editions the Minas Gerais team was not on the podium early on.
Now, the Minas Gerais cast begins its trajectory in another Brazilian. “Every championship we enter is to win. We have a spectacular look back over the last few years in the Superleague and once again we’re going to fight for the title. It is a very difficult tournament, with many teams that can reach the first place, teams that have reinforced a lot.
We are with a new, reformulated group, with everyone training together for a short time and we are thinking about team mating, growing as a team. But our goal is always to do our best, our best, in any championship, and we will do everything, ”said Marcelo Mendez.
In recent days the agenda of the Cruzeiro group has been intense, with the finals of Mineiro and the conquest of the decafam Championship over Fiat Minas, on November 2nd. Then the team already played this Thursday the duel of the Super Cup against the EMS Taubaté Funvic, with victory of the paulistas.
Now full focus on the Superleague, at least until the end of November, when the team will take a break from the competition for the Club World Cup on December 3-8 in Betim.
The central Isac, who has defended Sada Cruzeiro since 2013, spoke of the importance of starting well the national tournament. “In a Superleague every game is important, we have to play to our limit, our maximum, focusing on each game, each opponent, and I hope we have a good debut in Ribeirão Preto, to start very well in the championship,” said the shirt 12.
